📍 Memphis neighbors: quick heads-up on ConnectMemphis (Connect 2 Memphis) — a voluntary program that helps MPD locate nearby camera footage faster when a crime or emergency happens.

✅ Tell me more about the program ConnectMemphis creates a secure, MPD-only map of camera locations so investigators can quickly identify who might have useful video in the area—rather than spending hours/days knocking doors.

Two ways to participate

1) LEVEL 1 — Register your cameras (Free / no extra hardware) • You share basic info (camera location + contact details). • MPD does not get live access just because you register. • If something happens nearby, an investigator can email you to request footage.

2) LEVEL 2 — Integrate your system (Optional / “emergency sharing”) • Uses a small Axon FususCORE device connected to your camera system. • This can allow real-time sharing in an emergency based on your settings. • You can choose which cameras, and when sharing is allowed (conditional access).

🔐 What about privacy & control • The camera map is for authorized MPD users only. • No remote access “anytime.” Access settings are controlled by the owner, and permission is required. • You can update/remove your registration if you ever want to opt out.

ConnectMemphis in the news

On February 4th, Memphis-based Action News 5 reported that ConnectMemphis footage helped MPD locate a suspect vehicle tied to a robbery — and two suspects were arrested and charged. 🗓️ Robbery occurred Jan 27 (around 8:10 a.m., on Mignon Ave.) and arrests were made Jan 31 after investigators used video leads to identify the vehicle involved.
