As reported from WREG.com and the Daily Memphian, below is the latest update from the Memphis Safe Task Force as of Thursday, January 29th: The Memphis Safe Task Force (MSTF) resumed full operations following a brief pause due to a significant winter storm.

Recent Operations and Arrests Following its return to the streets, the task force reported the following activity for Wednesday, January 28:

Total Arrests: 21 to 22 individuals were taken into custody in a single day.

Contraband: One illegal .40-caliber firearm was seized.

Notable Apprehensions: Rodricko Davis (38): Arrested for assault after allegedly striking a woman with a brick; he was reported as combative during the arrest. Mica’h Finney (20): Arrested during a traffic stop on Mountain Terrace Boulevard following an armed carjacking at knifepoint. Darnavius Wayne (30/31): Apprehended for failure to appear (vandalism) and later charged with possession of a stolen firearm. Force Status and Deployment

National Guard Presence: Approximately 400 National Guard members remain deployed in Memphis, assisting with patrols and support roles.

Long-term Strategy: State officials confirmed that while the task force itself may not be permanent, an increased presence of roughly 100 Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) troopers will remain assigned to Memphis indefinitely.

Economic Impact: Reports released today indicate that federal troop deployments to various cities, including Memphis, have cost taxpayers approximately $496 million to date, with projections exceeding $1.1 billion if they continue through 2026.
